Kenneth Taylor and Eden, the couple who married, American couple from the United Kingdom, adopted Poarch. The Poarch family said that she had worked on the family farm for ten years as well as doing chores. She is the older of two adopted older sisters, and has an older brother Bryner. They moved together with their family to Texas, United States when she turned 13 years old. The two siblings remain with them in Phillipines. After that, she was a member of the United States Navy and was stationed in Japan for several years.
